2011 was a really big deal for Jordan. She graduated from preschool and started Kindergarten! She attended her first conference. She got to go to her third Camp No Limits with the whole family. Everywhere Jordan goes, she seems to make new and interesting connections with people. We had a chance to go to two different official limb difference meet ups with families in the St. Louis area (including with some friends from Illinois). We had additional meetings with families who we met through the Born Just Right blog. It's really remarkable what we've been able to do with the site. In honor of Jordan's upcoming birthday we're raising money to help two more kids attend summer camp. We've almost raised enough for one child! If you are interested, please feel free to read a more about it online.
Jordan kicked off the year celebrating her fifth birthday at Disney World. She lived it up with the end of her preschool experience. I wanted to document the end of her experience so I could collect proof of a very confident and able little girl. You can see a collection of those images here. Right after her last day, we attended the Amputee Coalition conference. |
This fall was the start of Kindergarten for Jordan. We kicked it off by creating a small book for kids to read and learn about limb differences. So far, it's been a wonderful help in letting the kids move on and just have fun. Jordan is a social monster at school these days. If you're interested in reading the book, check it out here. (It's even downloadable!)
Jordan is looking forward to December when she gets to build her next helper arm. We're talking about thinking up new helper hands that can do things like play the piano and maybe a new paddle idea for swimming. Of course, we're still riding the excitement of visiting Disney World this fall and meeting Winter. It was really special for the kids. We had a special blog friend who had a chance to join us for the meeting. It made the experience even more exciting. |
